Introduction

Hi, my name is Randi. I am attending college with the hopes of gaining some direction in my life. I went to the University of St. Thomas for two years and wasn’t quite sure where I was headed. I have always known English was my passion, but I didn’t want to end up a starving artist on the streets. I transferred to ARCC with hopes of expanding my horizons, but I find myself being drawn back to English and literature.
My husband, Matt and I were married a few months ago. My maiden name is Leek, which is what ended up on the class list. Sorry for any confusion this caused. We bought our first house this summer and are busy enjoying life.
I work full time at everyone’s favorite cable company. When I’m not on a call at work or have some free time I am busy writing . I have a strange problem of killing off all my characters in my books. I hope to develop my writing abilities to avoid this in the future. I am looking forward to developing my writing skills and getting to know everyone in this class.

  1. I love how you started out your blog. When I read your first sentence I sat back and said, "That sounds a lot like me." As for the attending the University of St. Thomas for two years and still not knowing where you are headed, I am in the same boat. I have been attending ARCC for almost three years now and am finally going to complete my Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and have no idea what I am going to do after that. I would like to go into nursing, but that is only a though right now. Just so I feel I have some direction. Congrats on the new house purchase! I can't wait to do that. What's wrong with killing characters off in books? It makes it more interesting :D

  2. Randi - Congrats on the recent marriage! And upon purchasing a home. These are both huge, life-changing events and should give you much to write about. I'm delighted to see that you've enrolled in this class, and hope it helps provide you with some of the direction you're looking for.

  3. I know exactly how you feel about not being sure where you are headed. I am a Senior in high school this year, and everyone always asks me what I want to major in after high school. (This is my second year taking PSEO classes through Anoka Ramsey.) I always hate that question because I have no idea what I want to do after high school. You sound as though you are farther along than me. My advice would be to follow your passion. If English is what you love to study I would say to go with that. It's better to do something you love than to get stuck doing something you hate.
